November 2024 marked a historic milestone as Zonta International celebrated its 105th Founding Anniversary, a global commemoration of over a century of service, advocacy, and empowerment for women and girls. To honor this remarkable legacy, the Zonta Club of Greater Rizal 2 held a special celebration, joining Zontians worldwide in reaffirming the organization’s mission of building a better world for women. Honoring a Century of Advocacy Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, Zonta International has grown into a global service organization with clubs in more than 60 countries. For 105 years, it has been at the forefront of advancing women’s rights, promoting education, ending violence against women, and fostering equality across all sectors of society. The Zonta Club of Greater Rizal 2, in solidarity with the international community of Zontians, commemorated this anniversary with pride, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to carry forward Zonta’s legacy in the Philippines. A Celebration of Service and Sisterhood The local commemoration highlighted Zonta’s impact in the community through: Reflections on past projects, particularly in women’s health, education, and advocacy Acknowledgment of members and partners who continue to support the club’s mission Expressions of solidarity with the global Zonta network, emphasizing that the struggle for equality remains ongoing The celebration was not only a tribute to Zonta’s rich history but also a joyful gathering of members who share the same passion for service and empowerment. Looking Forward with Purpose As Zonta International embarks on its 106th year, the Zonta Club of Greater Rizal 2 reaffirms its pledge to continue uplifting women in Rizal and beyond. By sustaining service projects, community outreach, and partnerships, the club ensures that the vision of Zonta—a world where women’s rights are recognized as human rights—remains alive and stronger than ever.

Project Title: “WIPE EVERY TEAR” – No One is Left Behind: Livelihood Date: November 7, 2024 Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PMVenue: Wipe Every Tear Headquarters, Fairview, Quezon CityParticipants: 15 Beneficiaries (Single Ladies and Mothers)Volunteers: 13 Zontians and Supporters Project Description: Aligned with Zonta International’s mission to empower women through service and advocacy, this project focused on economic empowerment for women survivors of exploitation. In partnership with Wipe Every Tear (WET)—a non-profit organization that provides shelter, education, and livelihood opportunities to women rescued from the sex trade—our club extended support for their ongoing livelihood program. As part of the initiative, Zontians visited WET’s headquarters to engage with the beneficiaries and observe the production process of their handmade products, including items to be sold during the annual Christmas Bazaar at the World Trade Center. By helping to promote and market these products, the club not only provided economic opportunities but also affirmed the women’s dignity and capacity for self-reliance. This initiative strengthens the bridge between rescue and reintegration, ensuring that no woman is left behind in her journey toward healing and financial independence. Zonta International Goals Addressed: Goal 1: Economic empowerment of women – By supporting and promoting the livelihood products, the club helped survivors generate income and gain confidence in their skills. Goal 2: Ensuring no one is left behind – The project embodies inclusive development by focusing on women who are often excluded from economic systems. Goal 3: Supporting survivors through sustainable solutions – The activity goes beyond charity by promoting long-term sustainability and dignity through livelihood.

Project Title: Typhoon Kristine Relief Goods Distribution Date: October 28–29, 2024 Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PMVenue: Batangas and Albay, Bicol RegionNo. of Beneficiaries: 150 FamiliesNo. of Volunteers: 2Classification of Recipients: FamiliesLocal Stakeholders: Philippine Navy Project Description: In the aftermath of Typhoon Kristine, which severely affected communities in Batangas and the Bicol region, our club extended support by participating in a relief goods distribution initiative in partnership with the Philippine Navy. The club donated essential goods to be distributed to 150 families displaced or impacted by the typhoon. The Philippine Navy facilitated the logistics and delivery to remote and hard-to-reach areas. This collaboration emphasized the importance of multi-sectoral partnerships in responding effectively to natural disasters. The initiative reflects Zonta’s ongoing commitment to supporting families in crisis, with a particular emphasis on uplifting women and children during times of vulnerability. Project Title: Medical Mission Date: October 27, 2024 Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PMVenue: Bacoor, CaviteBeneficiaries: 500 Individuals (Families)Volunteers: 9 Zontians and SupportersLocal Stakeholders: Bacoor Local Government Unit, Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII)Services Offered: Medical Consultations, Free Medicines, Distribution of Eyeglasses Project Description: As part of Zonta’s commitment to community well-being and equitable access to healthcare, the club partnered with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and the Bacoor Local Government Unit to provide free medical and dental services to underserved families in Bacoor, Cavite. On October 27, 2024, over 500 individuals received basic medical consultations, prescribed medicines, and eyeglasses during the half-day mission. The activity aimed to ease the health burdens of low-income families by providing accessible and essential healthcare, especially for those with limited access to regular medical services. By combining resources and expertise through inter-organizational collaboration, the project ensured that both preventive and immediate care were available—contributing to healthier families and stronger communities. Zonta International Goals Addressed: Goal 1: Advancing women’s and family health – Access to basic healthcare supports women and families, especially in marginalized communities. Goal 2: Promoting equitable access to essential services – The mission helps reduce health disparities through outreach and free services.
