Project Description:
In recognition of the vital role mangroves play in protecting coastal communities and combating climate change, the club resumed its mangrove tree planting initiative in San Juan II, Noveleta, Cavite, benefiting over 400 families in the area.
This effort builds on the original project held on October 28, 2022, led by then-President Rose Lim. Under the leadership of current President Shirley Licup, the club reaffirmed its long-term commitment to this cause, emphasizing that environmental stewardship must be continuous to make a lasting impact. Mangrove ecosystems act as natural barriers that reduce erosion, filter pollutants, and protect communities from storm surges and rising sea levels.
In this second phase, the club successfully planted over 1,000 mangrove seedlings, in collaboration with:
-
LDS Earth Stewardship Philippines, represented by President Anthony Cama and member Danilo Soleta
-
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), represented by Mr. Rolando “Olan” Palustre
The initiative was also featured on Pres. Anthony Cama’s YouTube channel and shared widely on the LDS Earth Stewardship Facebook page, further amplifying awareness and community engagement.
