Project Description:

In line with Zonta International’s mission to empower women through economic opportunities and support sustainable livelihoods, the club actively participated in the World Bazaar Festival, one of the Philippines’ largest and most prominent holiday trade events.

Held from December 13 to 22, 2024, the club showcased and sold products made by women beneficiaries from supported livelihood projects, specifically:

  1. Bar Soaps, Aromatherapy Oil Rollers, and Soy Candles – handcrafted by women from the Wipe Every Tear (WET) Organization, a group committed to helping women survivors of exploitation rebuild their lives through meaningful work.

  2. Peanuts, Peanut Butter, Turgin (Turmeric-Ginger) Powder, Salabat, Taro Chips, and Coconut Cookies – products by Ms. Julie Apali, a shining example of women’s resilience and entrepreneurship, and a proud symbol of the club’s women empowerment initiatives.

The project aimed to promote the products to a wider market, create income opportunities for the women producers, and increase public awareness of Zonta’s livelihood advocacy. The bazaar also served as a platform for these empowered women to gain confidence, improve their market reach, and connect with potential customers.

The club was honored by the visit of Mr. Kenneth James Sacht, Founder of Wipe Every Tear, showing continued support and partnership between the organization and Zonta.

Zonta International Goals Addressed:

  • Goal 1: Economic empowerment of women – The project creates real income opportunities and promotes entrepreneurial development.

  • Goal 2: Supporting survivors of violence through sustainable livelihood – WET’s inclusion highlights Zonta’s commitment to supporting women beyond rescue, toward long-term reintegration.

  • Goal 3: Promoting women’s visibility and participation in the economy – Featuring women-led products at a national trade event elevates their work and presence in public markets.
