On June 10, 2025, the Zonta Greater Club of Rizal 2 proudly joined hands with teachers, parents, and volunteers in the nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2025, held at Malanday Elementary School. This annual tradition of community spirit and bayanihan once again brought people together in preparing schools for the upcoming academic year. A Day of Service and Commitment The Zonta Greater Club of Rizal 2 actively participated by providing manpower, resources, and much-needed support to ensure that classrooms and school facilities were safe, clean, and conducive to learning. With brooms, paintbrushes, and dedication in hand, the volunteers repainted classrooms, cleaned school grounds, and repaired minor fixtures. More than just the physical work, the day highlighted Zonta’s mission of empowering communities through education and service. The members demonstrated that supporting children’s education is not limited to scholarships and learning materials—it also means ensuring that schools are environments where students can thrive. Unity in Action The event was also a celebration of partnership. Teachers, parents, local officials, and Zonta members worked side by side, reinforcing the value of shared responsibility in shaping the future of children. This collaboration is at the heart of Brigada Eskwela: when communities take ownership of their schools, education becomes stronger, more inclusive, and more meaningful. Beyond Clean Walls and Classrooms While the classrooms now shine brighter and the school grounds look fresher, the greater impact lies in the inspiration this activity left behind. Students of Malanday Elementary School will walk into a learning space cared for by their community, a tangible reminder that their education is valued. Zonta’s Continuing Advocacy For Zonta Greater Club of Rizal 2, Brigada Eskwela is more than just a one-day activity—it is part of their continuing advocacy to uplift women, children, and communities through service and action. By taking part in Brigada Eskwela 2025, the club reaffirms its commitment to education as a foundation for empowerment and progress.

Project Title: “WIPE EVERY TEAR” – Donation for Scholarship Program Date: May 30, 2025 Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PMVenue: Wipe Every Tear Headquarters, Fairview, Quezon CityParticipants: 15 Beneficiaries (Single Ladies and Mothers)Volunteers: 12 Zontians and Supporters Project Description: As part of the club’s ongoing commitment to education and empowerment of women and girls, this fourth collaborative activity with Wipe Every Tear (WET) focused on supporting the organization’s Scholarship Program. The program provides educational opportunities for women survivors of exploitation, helping them pursue formal education as part of their reintegration and personal development journey. On May 30, 2025, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was formally signed between the club and WET for a one-year scholarship support worth ₱100,000.00. The first tranche of ₱25,000.00 was officially handed over to Ms. Jorelli Torres, Executive Director of WET, during the visit. To further encourage and equip the students, the club also distributed school supplies to the beneficiaries, symbolizing a fresh start and a hopeful future through education. Zonta International Goals Addressed: Goal 1: Empowering women through education – The scholarship directly supports women’s access to education, a key tool for empowerment and self-sufficiency. Goal 2: Breaking the cycle of exploitation – By investing in education, the project helps prevent re-victimization and opens pathways to better opportunities. Goal 3: Advancing gender equality through service – The club contributes to building a more equitable society by supporting survivors as they reclaim their futures.

Project Title: Save Mother Earth: Mangrove Tree Planting – Part 2 Date: April 10, 2025 Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PMVenue: San Juan II, Noveleta, CaviteBeneficiaries: 400 Families from Nearby CommunitiesVolunteers: 13 Zontians and SupportersLocal Stakeholders: Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Project Description: In recognition of the vital role mangroves play in protecting coastal communities and combating climate change, the club resumed its mangrove tree planting initiative in San Juan II, Noveleta, Cavite, benefiting over 400 families in the area. This effort builds on the original project held on October 28, 2022, led by then-President Rose Lim. Under the leadership of current President Shirley Licup, the club reaffirmed its long-term commitment to this cause, emphasizing that environmental stewardship must be continuous to make a lasting impact. Mangrove ecosystems act as natural barriers that reduce erosion, filter pollutants, and protect communities from storm surges and rising sea levels. In this second phase, the club successfully planted over 1,000 mangrove seedlings, in collaboration with: LDS Earth Stewardship Philippines, represented by President Anthony Cama and member Danilo Soleta Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), represented by Mr. Rolando “Olan” Palustre The initiative was also featured on Pres. Anthony Cama’s YouTube channel and shared widely on the LDS Earth Stewardship Facebook page, further amplifying awareness and community engagement. Zonta International Goals Addressed: Goal 1: Promoting environmental sustainability – This activity supports Zonta’s broader commitment to sustainable development and community resilience. Goal 2: Empowering communities through action – By protecting coastal ecosystems, the project helps safeguard the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of families. Goal 3: Strengthening partnerships for lasting impact – The collaboration with BFAR and LDS Earth Stewardship reflects Zonta’s belief in working with like-minded organizations to serve both women and the broader community.

Project Title: Zonta Asian Inter-District Meeting (AIDM) Description: President Shirley Licup, together with 13 members of the club, attended the Asian Inter-District Meeting (AIDM) held in Fukuoka, Japan. This two-day international gathering brought together Zontians from across Asia for a meaningful exchange of insights, advocacy, and updates. The program included District Reports, interactive discussions, and a Panel Session on the theme: “For Women and Girls – The Role of Zontians in Asia.” Adding a cultural highlight to the event, President Shirley joined the Philippine contingent’s folk dance performance, showcasing traditional Filipino dances as part of the cultural presentation segment. This participation not only fostered international collaboration but also strengthened the club’s ties with fellow Zontians across Asia while promoting Filipino culture on the global stage.
