Project Title: “WIPE EVERY TEAR” Acquaintance and Art Therapy Session Date: October 8, 2024 Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PMVenue: Wipe Every Tear Headquarters, Fairview, Quezon CityParticipants: 15 Beneficiaries (Single Ladies and Mothers)Volunteers: 14 Zontians and Supporters Project Description: In line with Zonta International’s mission to empower women and girls and its commitment to combat gender-based violence and support survivors, this outreach activity was organized in partnership with Wipe Every Tear (WET), a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating women exploited in the Philippine sex trade. The activity served as a meaningful afternoon of connection and healing. Zonta members spent time engaging with WET’s beneficiaries—survivors of exploitation who are now on a journey of restoration through access to safe housing, education, and livelihood support. The highlight of the day was an art therapy session through painting. This expressive activity was designed to help participants process emotions, reduce stress, and reclaim their voices through creative freedom. It also promoted mental wellness and self-confidence among the women, many of whom are rebuilding their lives after trauma. The event also included a simple yet joyful program with interactive games, snacks, and giveaways, fostering a sense of community and belonging for the participants. Zonta International Goals Addressed: Goal 1: Preventing violence against women and girls – By partnering with WET, the club supported survivors and advocated for the end of exploitation. Goal 2: Promoting mental health and empowerment – The art therapy enabled participants to heal emotionally and gain confidence in a safe space. Goal 3: Supporting vulnerable groups through service – The club directly engaged with women who are often marginalized and helped amplify their journey toward empowerment.

Project Title: Cancer Clearance Test for Women Date: October 4–6, 2025 Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PMVenue: Simunul Island, Tawi-TawiBeneficiaries: 125 WomenVolunteers: 2 Health Advocates and Zonta MembersServices Offered: Breast Examination, Pap Smear, Speculum Examination Project Description: As part of the club’s mission to promote women’s health, early detection of cancer, and access to reproductive healthcare, this outreach program was conducted in the remote community of Simunul Island, Tawi-Tawi, reaching 125 women who often have limited access to medical services. The project was carried out over three days and featured a holistic approach to women’s wellness, especially focusing on early detection of cervical and breast cancer—two of the most common cancers affecting women in the Philippines. The program consisted of three main components: Health Education Session – A discussion on women’s physiology, reproductive health, and natural family planning to empower participants with basic health knowledge. Cancer Screening Services – Hands-on clinical services including bilateral breast examination, speculum examination, and Pap smear to screen for early signs of cancer and reproductive tract infections. Personal Hygiene and Cultural Counselling – Guidance on proper women’s hygiene practices and an engaging discussion on Filipino folklore, integrating cultural context with health education to foster trust and understanding. This initiative reflects the club’s dedication to bringing critical health services to geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, aligning with Zonta’s advocacy for universal access to women’s health and prevention of gender-based health disparities. Zonta International Goals Addressed: Goal 1: Improving women’s health and well-being – Through accessible screening and education, the project supports early detection and disease prevention. Goal 2: Reaching underserved communities – Providing healthcare to women in remote areas ensures inclusivity in health advocacy. Goal 3: Empowering women with knowledge – The educational and counselling components promote autonomy and informed decision-making regarding their bodies and health.

Project Title: Gabay at Alalay sa Kinabukasan(Guidance and Support for the Future) Date: September 12, 2024 Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PMVenue: Barangay Amihan, Quezon CityBeneficiaries: 9 ChildrenVolunteers: 6 Zontians and Supporters Project Description: In support of working women and their families, the club launched the “Gabay at Alalay sa Kinabukasan” initiative—an outreach project aimed at promoting early childhood development and safe community care for the children of employed mothers. On September 12, 2024, the club donated educational toys and activity books to local childcare centers in Barangay Amihan, Quezon City. These centers serve as safe, nurturing spaces where children can stay while their mothers work, providing a much-needed support system for low-income working families. The donations were selected to stimulate learning, creativity, and emotional development in young children, contributing to their growth and preparing them for school readiness. This small but meaningful project reflects Zonta’s dedication to creating enabling environments for women to work and thrive, while also investing in the well-being and potential of the next generation. Zonta International Goals Addressed: Goal 1: Supporting working women – By strengthening childcare support systems, the project empowers women to pursue employment with peace of mind. Goal 2: Promoting early childhood development – The educational materials encourage cognitive, social, and emotional growth in children during formative years. Goal 3: Advancing community-based solutions – Partnering with barangay-level programs helps address gender and family challenges at the grassroots level.

The Zonta Club of Greater Rizal II once again gathered for a joyful and meaningful celebration of the Mooncake Festival, held last September 10, 2024, at the Club Pavilion, North Greenhills.    Known as one of the most anticipated traditions in the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, the Mooncake Dice Game brought laughter, excitement, and camaraderie among members and guests. The clinking of dice, the cheer of winners, and the spirit of friendship filled the air as everyone took turns trying their luck to win prizes. More than just a festive gathering, the event highlighted Zonta’s commitment to fostering fellowship and cultural appreciation while supporting the club’s advocacy projects for women and children. The Mooncake Festival is not only about tradition, but also about coming together to celebrate community and shared purpose. The evening was made even more special with the sharing of mooncakes, a symbol of unity and good fortune. With every game played and prize won, the Zontians strengthened bonds and created lasting memories. The Zonta Club of Greater Rizal II extends its gratitude to all members, supporters, and partners who joined the celebration. Events like these remind us that while we enjoy fun and tradition, our greater purpose lies in empowering women, advancing equality, and serving our community.
